Welcome to my guide to hill walking in Spain. Take a trip through the website and if you want a detailed walking guide for each area, send me an email via the "Contact" link.
I am also in the process of publishing a series of guide books under the title "SPANISH TRAILS". The first of these has just become available in April 2018.
My new book covers the Picos de Europa. You can find it on Amazon. Search in their books section for "Picos de Europa". It is also on www.cordee.co.uk. Or you can obtain it direct from me through the "Contact" link.
This website covers:
* Southern Spain -
* Central Spain - Sierra Guadarrama, to the north of Madrid.
* Northern Spain -
My walks are for hill walking and scrambling, but not for rock climbing.
The walk descriptions include detailed instructions, gradings, sketch maps and in most cases GPS tracks. They are graded according to difficulty. Some but by no means all involve some exposure, requiring a reasonable head for heights. When this applies, it is made clear in the walk description.
HOW DOES THIS WEBSITE WORK?
Click through the site for information about each area. There are links to two or three great walks for each area, which you can have free of charge.
On request I can send you by email a full portfolio of walks for each area, with sketch maps, grid references and, for most of them, GPS tracks. I make a small charge for each area as a contribution to my costs.
The sketch maps are in my own hand. Generally speaking, Spanish mapping does not compare to British Ordnance Survey maps. My sketch maps provide just what you need, and are ideally used alongside the best topographical maps. For each area I give references to the published maps available.
ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSPORT
On request and free of charge I will provide information about good hotel, hostal and refuge accommodation, and information about public transport and car hire.
DISCLAIMER - The walk descriptions and maps are as accurate as I can make them, but things change and I can not guarantee that everything is always bang up to date or 100% correct. You must take all the normal precautions, wearing adequate clothing, carrying waterproofs, mobile phone and so on, just as you would when hill walking in the UK. You also need protection from the sun. And let somebody know where you are going when you set out. All users of this information use it entirely at their own risk.
